All Ecoplus solar products qualify for Solar Rebates as they are approved by the
Clean Energy Council of Australia.

Solar rebates can literally take thousands of dollars off the cost of your next Ecoplus solar system. As governments continue to push for increasing renewable energy targets, so too do the rebates come. It is essential that you take full advantage of the solar rebates you are entitled to. Ecoplus has you covered!

Solar Rebates Explained: STCs / RECs

Solar rebates are Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). Referred to previously as Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), STCs are now the officially recognised name for solar rebates. Under the Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), government is rewarding households and businesses who install and use renewable energy systems. In this case, the rewards are STCs (solar rebates).

Households and businesses are eligible to claim STCs when they install an eligible renewable energy system (such as solar panels or a solar hot water system). The amount of STCs you can claim is primarily based upon the type of system you are installing; the capacity of the system (i.e. in terms of MWh of electricity); and, the geographic location of system.

When you claim STCs, it’s possible to register and keep them to sell at a later date; sell / trade them to a third party; or, trade them to Ecoplus at the time of the purchase and receive a point of sale discount (the most common). In essence, STCs either provide a rebate post-implementation or reduce the price of the actual system you are purchasing at the time of purchase.

Maximising Your Solar Rebates: How To

Because the value of an STC does vary over time, just like a share on the stock market, there is a risk of receiving a lower price for your STC than you otherwise could have. However, Ecoplus can manage this risk due to our size in the market, our experience and our knowledgeable experts.

It is important to note that the value of an STC can fluctuate with the
market; however, at Ecoplus, we offer you a fixed price for your STC,
thereby eliminating the risk you face when trading them separately.

Finding Out About STCs: Go-To Sources

To find out more about STCs and the Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme, you can click onto the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator, use their Solar Water Heater STC Calculator, or calculate certificates using the Small Generation Unit STC Calculator (solar panels).

Companies Offering Higher Rebates

The old adage “if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is” applies to solar rebates. Some not so scrupulous companies will promote themselves as being able to get high a dollar value for your certificate in order to get your custom. However, once you sign up with them, they will inform you that the value of the certificate has decreased due to market fluctuations. When, in fact, the price they used to entice your business was never a reality in the first place.

At Ecoplus, we present customers with a fixed and fair solar rebate price from the outset. We are transparent in our dealings and provide upfront, fixed prices.
